The Andaman Sea is one of the best fishing grounds in Southeast Asia. A private fishing charter puts you on the right spots with an experienced captain who knows exactly where the fish are.
The Andaman Sea supports a variety of fishing styles. Our captains are experienced in all of them and will recommend the best method based on current conditions and your preferences.
Trolling is the most action-packed method — lures are trailed behind the moving boat at speed, targeting pelagic (open-water) species. It's perfect for catching barracuda, wahoo, mahi-mahi (dorado), and the prized giant trevally (GT). Trolling covers ground and keeps the excitement level high — hits can come at any moment. Great for groups who want action and don't want to sit still for long periods.
Drop baited rigs to the seabed and target reef and bottom-dwelling species. Bottom fishing in the Andaman is highly productive — the sea bed around Phuket is rich with reef fish including snapper, grouper, emperor, and sea bass. This is a more relaxed style of fishing that suits mixed groups including beginners and children. The captain will anchor over productive reef structures where fish consistently show up.
Metal jigs are worked vertically through the water column — an active, technique-driven style of fishing that's extremely effective for larger pelagic species. Jigging in the Andaman targets amberjack, tuna, GT, and king mackerel. It's more physically demanding than trolling or bottom fishing and is best suited to experienced anglers who want a challenge. Our captains will coach beginners through the technique if you want to try it.
The Andaman is rich with sport and food fish year-round. Here's what you can realistically expect to catch on a fishing charter from Phuket.
Year-round. Fast, aggressive, great on light tackle. Common catch on trolling trips close to shore and around reefs.
Excellent eating, found on reef structures year-round. Most productive on bottom fishing rigs around offshore reefs.
Solid reef fish, highly prized in Thai cuisine. Found at depth on rocky and coral bottom. Bottom fishing produces good results.
The most sought-after sport fish in the Andaman. Powerful, fast, and hard-fighting. Targeted on jigs and surface lures.
Also known as dorado. Beautiful fish with spectacular colours. Best in the wet season when they follow floating debris offshore.
Fast, aggressive, and excellent eating. Common on trolling and jigging trips. Often found in large schools, giving multiple hook-ups.
One of the fastest fish in the sea. An exceptional sport fish on light trolling gear. Less common but highly prized when caught.
Common bottom fish around reef structures. Excellent eating and fights well for its size. A reliable catch on bottom fishing trips.
All prices are for private hire of the boat with captain. Tackle and bait are included.

No. Our captains are experienced at fishing with all levels, including complete beginners. They will set up the rods, show you the technique, and help you land the fish. Bottom fishing in particular is very easy to learn and is a great starting point for first-timers. If you're an experienced angler who wants to run your own gear and technique, that's equally welcome — just let us know your experience level when you book.
Fishing in Phuket is productive year-round, but different seasons target different species. The high season (November–April) offers calmer seas and excellent bottom fishing and reef fishing. The low season (May–October) can produce better pelagic fishing — mahi-mahi, wahoo, and GT are more active in the warmer, deeper water of the southwest monsoon period. We operate fishing charters throughout the year and will advise on current conditions when you enquire.
Yes. All fish you catch are yours to keep. We practice responsible fishing — we don't target protected species and encourage releasing fish that are not going to be eaten. For fish you want to keep, we have ice boxes on board to keep them fresh. At the end of the trip we can arrange filleting at the pier, and we can direct you to local restaurants that will cook your catch for a small fee. It's a genuinely memorable meal.
It depends on the type of fishing. Half-day reef and bottom fishing trips typically fish within 5–15 nautical miles of Phuket, targeting reef structures and underwater pinnacles. Full-day offshore trips can venture 20–40+ nautical miles offshore to target open-water pelagics like wahoo, tuna, and GT. Offshore trips require a larger, more capable vessel and are priced accordingly. We discuss the target area when you book based on current conditions and your preferences.
Yes — this is popular with mixed groups where some people want to fish and others prefer snorkelling or swimming. We can plan an itinerary that includes fishing in the morning and a beach or snorkel stop in the afternoon (or vice versa). Just tell us when you enquire and we'll design a route that works for the whole group. Note that combining activities on a full-day trip works best with a speedboat or larger fishing vessel that can cover the distance efficiently.
Tell us your dates, group size, and preferred fishing style. We'll send you available boats and prices within a few hours.
