The fastest and most flexible way to explore Phuket's islands. A private speedboat puts Phi Phi, Racha, and the Khai Islands within easy reach — all on your own schedule.
Speedboats are the most popular charter option in Phuket — and for good reason. Here's what makes them stand out.
A modern speedboat can reach 35–40 knots and gets you to Phi Phi in about 90 minutes — versus 2+ hours on a catamaran. That extra time matters when you're doing a full-day trip. You can reach destinations that are impractical for slower boats, and can visit more stops in a single day.
Because speedboats cover ground quickly, they're ideal for island-hopping routes that visit three or four stops in a day. A typical full-day itinerary might include Coral Island, Racha Yai, and the Khai Islands — stops that would be too far apart for a slower vessel. Your captain will help plan the most efficient route.
Speedboats are the most cost-effective way to charter a private boat in Phuket. For groups of 4–10 people the per-person cost is often less than a shared tour, with the added benefit of having the boat entirely to yourselves. Half-day options keep costs down further if you only have a morning or afternoon free.
On a private speedboat you are not locked into a shared-tour schedule. If you want to stay longer at a snorkel spot, skip an island, or take a detour to a secluded beach, just tell your captain. This flexibility is the main reason guests who have done shared boat tours before prefer private charters.
Speedboats suit groups who want to maximise their day — snorkelling at multiple sites, exploring different beaches, and covering distance efficiently. If your group is energetic and wants to pack as much in as possible, a speedboat gives you the range and speed to do it.
Not everyone has a full day free. Speedboats are the only practical choice for a half-day island trip from Phuket — you can reach Coral Island, Racha Yai, or the Khai Islands and have 2–3 hours in the water before returning. Half-day trips typically run 4–5 hours including travel time.
All prices are for private hire of the boat — not per person. Up to 10 passengers on a standard speedboat.

These are our most requested speedboat itineraries. All routes can be adapted to your group's preferences — just let us know what you'd like to see.
Depart Chalong Pier early and reach Phi Phi in 90 minutes. Spend the day visiting Maya Bay (entry permit required), snorkelling at Bamboo Island, swimming at Monkey Beach, and exploring Phi Phi Don village. Anchor for lunch in a calm bay. One of the most spectacular day trips in Southeast Asia — made better because it's entirely private.
Head south to Racha Yai for some of the best snorkelling in the Phuket area. The water is crystal-clear and the coral is in excellent condition. Visit multiple bays including Batok Bay and Siam Bay. Optional extension to Racha Noi for more advanced snorkelling. Much less crowded than Phi Phi, with calmer and clearer water most of the year.
Start at the Khai Islands for shallow snorkelling and a beach stop, then head to Coral Island for lunch and swimming, and finish with a drift past the smaller islands on the way back. A classic Phuket half-day that works well for mixed groups who want variety. The speedboat covers the distances quickly so you're not sacrificing beach time for travel.
Head north into the protected waters of Phang Nga Bay. Visit James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan), explore sea caves, and cruise through the limestone karst scenery that makes this bay one of Thailand's most photographed places. The enclosed waters of the bay are calm even when the open sea has some swell — good option in shoulder season.
Our standard speedboats take up to 10 passengers. We also have larger speedboats that take up to 15 passengers. For groups larger than 15, we recommend a catamaran or large group vessel. Whatever your group size, we'll find the right boat — just tell us your headcount when you enquire.
All our speedboats are maintained to current safety standards and carry life jackets for every passenger. Our captains are licensed and experienced in local waters. We monitor sea conditions daily and will advise if conditions are unsuitable for departure. During the high season (November–April) conditions are nearly always excellent. In the low season we assess each day individually and never depart in unsafe conditions.
Speedboats can be bumpy, especially at high speed in moderate swell. If you or anyone in your group is prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking sea-sickness tablets before departure, sitting at the back of the boat (which is smoother than the bow), and letting the captain know so they can adjust speed accordingly. If you're very sensitive to motion, a catamaran is a more comfortable choice.
Yes. This is one of the main benefits of a private charter. We'll discuss your preferred route before departure and your captain will follow it. If you change your mind on the day and want to add a stop or skip somewhere, just let the captain know. The only constraints are weather, sea conditions, and some restricted areas (such as no-anchor zones). Your captain will guide you on what's possible.
Most of our speedboat charters depart from Chalong Pier on the south coast of Phuket island. This is the most convenient departure point for Phi Phi, Racha Island, and Coral Island. Some routes depart from Ao Po Grand Marina in the north, which is better positioned for Phang Nga Bay trips. We'll confirm the exact departure point when you book and provide directions and parking information.
Tell us your dates and group size. We'll send you available boats and prices within a few hours.
