The typical sunset cruise runs 3–4 hours: cast off from Chalong Pier in the late afternoon, cruise south along the coast past Promthep Cape, anchor in a sheltered bay as the sun drops, then return under the stars. Meet the captain and crew. The boat is set up: ice bucket, drinks, towels. A brief safety rundown, then cast off. Transfer from your hotel to Chalong can be arranged — ask when you book.
Head south along the coast, past Rawai Beach and the limestone cliffs leading to Promthep Cape. The light at this hour is already turning warm. From the water the cape looks entirely different to the road viewpoint above — vast and wild.
The captain selects the best position based on wind direction and visibility — sometimes a sheltered bay, sometimes open water facing the horizon. Drinks come out. This is the unhurried middle section of the evening: nowhere to be, nothing to do.
The sun touches the horizon. Depending on cloud and conditions, this lasts 10–20 minutes of continuously changing colour. The captain times the anchorage so you’re settled and unhurried when it happens — not scrambling for a spot. If you’re proposing, this is the moment.
Return under the first stars. The bay lights come on as you approach. Back at the pier by 7:30pm — early enough for dinner at one of Rawai’s seafood restaurants if you want to extend the evening.

Everything you need to know before you book
Departure is typically 3 to 3.5 hours before sunset. In high season (November–April) that means around 3:30–4:00pm from Chalong Pier, returning by 7:30pm. Exact times are confirmed at booking based on the current sunset schedule — sunset varies from 6:00pm (November) to 7:00pm (April) in high season.
Partly cloudy skies often produce the most dramatic sunsets — clouds catch the colour and create extraordinary displays. Only a completely overcast sky blocks the show entirely, which is uncommon in high season. We do not cancel for cloud cover. If conditions are genuinely unsafe (strong wind, heavy rain), we will discuss rescheduling options with you.
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own food and alcohol — there is no corkage fee. We provide soft drinks, water and ice. A chilled champagne or drinks package can be arranged in advance if you prefer everything ready on arrival. Canapés and snack platters can also be arranged with notice.

Yes. On catamarans and motor yachts there is enough table and seating space for a proper dinner. We can arrange a private chef or catered meal to be served during the cruise.
